Newer Upper Michigan Fishing / Hunting Lodge for Sale! It is located on a 271 Acre wooded parcel that has private gated access. The property is located just east of Marquette County, off US-41, in west-central Rock River Township of Alger County. Surrounded by Corporate CFA Lands, and thousands of acres of the Escanaba River State Forest, you can either hunt for Trophy Bucks on your own property using the trail system to reach its four Deer Blinds, or have access by foot into these surrounding lands for additional hunting, trapping, and fishing. It is walking distance (less than 1/4 mile) to the West Branch of the Whitefish River. The Whitefish River flows some 50-miles over Hiawatha National Forest Lands in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Whitefish River is part of the National Wild And Scenic Rivers Act Group. Besides good Brook and Rainbow Trout fishing in both its East and West Branches, the river hosts dependable runs of Steelhead, Chinook Salmon, Brown and Coaster Brook Trout, as well as Splake. During the summer, much of the river becomes too shallow for canoeing, but offers fishing for brook trout in the upper reaches and a variety of warm-water species downstream from the confluence of the East and West Branches. The East Branch drains about 55,000 acres of land, more than half of which lies within the Hiawatha National Forest. The remote undisturbed river runs for 17 miles before joining the West Branch in Central Delta County. It is one of the U.P.'s largest rivers to support a good population of native brook trout. The West Branch arises in Northwest Alger and Northeast Marquette Counties. It flows over bedrock shield terrain with some cascading drops and rock ledges. Mostly wadeable at 20-30 feet wide, the river averages 4 feet deep. The West Branch is a very good Wild Steelhead river. Natural reproduction of Steelhead is good on gravel riffles located downstream from FR-2236 in scattered areas between FR2236 and Trenary. Fishing pressure is light to moderate. All eight tributaries of the West Branch are designated trout streams. The main branch of the river is formed by the confluence of the east and west branches. The Whitefish River flows into Little Bay de Noc on Lake Michigan in Delta County after coursing south for some 50 miles. A MDNR Fish Stocking and Launch Site is about 3/4 miles from the cabin. The river is cold, swift and deep in the early spring, challenging canoeists and kayakers. Three miles from the cabin is access to Trail No. 8, the Plains Road/Rumley Trail that connects Gwinn to Munising. The beautiful 28x48 log sided cabin could sleep groups of 16 people - perfect for your Hunt Club! A 6x48 covered front porch leads to a 12x16 Living Room that has cedar walls and a free-standing wood stove.
